May 22, 2008
Rock ‘n’ rollers of all ages will put on their blue suede shoes this Saturday to ensure there’s a “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On” at Strathpine.
The Rodz, Rock ‘n’ Roll concert will take local groovers back in time to an era of jukeboxes, diner cafés and drive-in movies with the Legends In Concert show.
Renowned Las Vegas performers Dean Z and Lance Lipinsky, who made their Australian performing debuts at last year’s Rodz, Rock ‘n’ Roll event, will return to Strathpine to belt out the hits of Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Dean Z portrays Elvis Presley as he was during the Sun Studios Era of the mid-1950s – the formative years that helped to create the king of rock ‘n’ roll.
Adding weight to his standing as one of America’s best rock star impersonators, Lipinsky performed with Jerry Lee Lewis’ band at Lewis’ 67th birthday party as a 19-year-old.
Joining Lipinsky and Dean Z on stage to take audiences back five decades will be fellow Vegas performer Bobby Brookes Hamilton, the son of legendary R&B hit maker Jackie Wilson, in his guise as the “architect of rock ‘n’ roll”, Little Richard.
Local bands The Superlatives, Quick Draw MaGraw, Dudes of Doo Wop and Hi-way 1 will perform from midday, with Legends In Concert on-stage from 6pm.
The free concert at Pine Rivers Park, Gympie Road, Strathpine, Queensland Australia will conclude with fireworks at 9pm.
As well as live music, Rodz, Rock ‘n’ Roll, which is expected to attract 5000 people, will also rev up with a Show and Shine display of more than 200 classic and hot rod cars.
